A Walk Among The Tombstones

The good news is that Liam Neeson is back again. The better news is that this time around he isn’t chasing his tail in a predictable script that involves finding someone who has been kidnapped within 24 hours.  Or for that matter trying to save an aircraft full of passengers from impending doom.

Mr. Brooks

Why it has taken me 7 years to watch this movie – I can never say.  Amongst all the serial killer movies that I have seen, this one has to be one of the most unique storylines ever.  Here, the serial killer, is the protagonist.  And if that doesn’t intrigue you, then the fact that the serial killer is played by Kevin Costner will definitely do the job.  Its playing on Television of late so try and catch up with it.

Prisoners

Apparently Canada is looking forward to that annual ceremony held by AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) more than anyone else.  The person responsible for this is one Denis Villeneuve.  His attempts to date haven’t been under a banner as big as that for Prisoners.  However, he has been much lauded over the years both within and outside Canada.

The Frozen Ground

The posters claimed with a lot of conviction that this is the best serial killer movie since Se7en.  A wise man once said, “Never judge a movie by its poster” – I am quite certain he was a victim of many an experience like The Frozen Ground.  I was looking forward to a serial killer movie that would blow my pants off for a really long time.  But it will take much more than TFG to displace the likes of Se7en.

The Call

Apologies in advance for the delay in posting this review.  I should have done so earlier. Would have managed to push at least a few of you to see a movie that I personally thought was well made and edge of the seat.  A good serial killer movie after quite a while.  Regretably out of the theatres already.  Look for the DVD if you can.

The Bone Collector

Amongst the genre of Serial Killer movies, probably one of the top ranking movies would undeniable be The Bone Collector. And it could also rank at director Phillip Noyce’s best work over the 60 odd years that he has walked the earth and over the 40 odd years that he has been in the world of direction (Can you believe that? The man directed his first when he was 19???)
