Fast And Furious 6

Thank you god for ensuring that my weekend was not completely ruined.  Thank you god for creating a director like Justin Lin who genuinely believes in the concept of raising the bar every single time he gets behind that lens.  That, is the only success formula for a hugely successful franchise that continues to enthrall audiences across the world every time they decide to make another one.

This time around, the gang of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), Roman (tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), Mia (Jordana Brewster), Han (Sung Kang) and Gisele (Gal Gadot) to get back and set the roads on fire.  And like the previous time, they will be on a mission with the big man – Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) who has been joined by a hottie rookie called Riley (Gina Carano).

What will be their mission? To hunt down and capture Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).  Shaw is an ex SS operator who has gone rogue and is assembling a device that threatens to take the lights out of an entire continent for over 24 hours leaving it vulnerable to attack.  What do our heroes get in return? Letty (Michelle Rodriguez).  Yep.  Letty is not dead.  And Hobbs has photographic evidence.

So, although our heroes have decided to retire from active service and although O’Conner and Mia have just had their first born, the gang decides to take up one more assignment.  Because after all, its family.  And along the way this time, they get taken out by hi-tech devices, move back to the traditional four wheels and an engine, almost get run over by a tank and bring down an huge aircraft. Howz that for action.

Fast and Furious 6 is an all out non stop action movie meant for the testosterone high that boys / men crave for.  There are barely any moments when you will feel that the action has slowed down or is coming to rest.  And as I mentioned earlier in this review, thanks to Justin Lin, for raising the bar a notch higher than where he had taken it with Fast Five.

There are at least 5 car chase sequences which will keep you on the edge of your seats.  The best is of course the one with the Tank that explodes off a military truck and then proceeds to break a car lover’s heart with a lot of damage.  True to what Hobbs says in the trailer, “taken it to a whole new level”.  What I cannot begin to imagine in the seventh one.  Where Jason Statham is the bad guy.  Watch the credits for details.  7 on 10.
