Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story

Yet another joke that has been doing its rounds of late and is so damn true its not funny at all!!! The best way to hide your porn collection on your PC is to name the folder – THE VIVIEK OBEROI COLLECTION.  Oh I’m sorry.  Vivek. He has dropped the “I” from his name but it seems to have made little difference to his luck.

For someone who started his Bollywood career with an explosion of sorts (Company), Vivek Oberoi has set an example of how fleeting, fame can really be.  All with a string on bad choices both professionally and personally that has led to the demise of a possibly stunning career – a bit too soon for my comfort.  Movies like Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story are not going to take that graph up.  Thankfully it will not be going more south.

This one is the story of a small town girl Simran (Neha Sharma) who stays around Alibag I would guess (Considering it takes about 4 hours by Shetty Travels and has an enviable coastline).  Simran wants to make it big in the city and accepts a job offer that pays her 80K a month post taxes.  WOW!!!

But with the 2G scam, she loses her job within 2 months.  But she doesn’t tell her dad and moves into a small place @ Bandra Village.  Saved enough money in 2 months to afford that I guess.  Here she meets Jayantabhai (Oberoi) a local Bhai (Don) who owes his current life to Altaf Bhai (Zakir Hussain).

Now Jayantabhai is a Bhai who is really good at heart and bad with his sense of humourous (read humour).  Cheap and corny one liners litter the entire movie for e.g. Serious Log toh ICU mein rehte hain na (Those who are serious are found in the ICU no?).  But he keeps helping Simran whenever the opportunity comes up with no devious intent.  Of course, it is only a matter of time before louv (love) happens.

Vivek Oberoi is at his usual self – the one that we have seen of late.  A self that makes him look like a patch on what he is capable of.  His capability to act seems to have been substituted with a capability to over act.  Neha Sharma provides the necessary eye candy with her short skirts, hot pants, PJ shorts, singlets etc. that ensure enough of drool. For what its worth – she is hot alright.  Little acting on display though.

The music is not the most inspiring but a couple of decent tracks help.  The overall story could have been made to look much better.  The fact that Vinnil Markan was in his first movie didn’t help I guess.  There is nothing you will miss if you don’t watch this one.  The good part is that you may not get horribly bored.  So watch when it comes on TV (if it does) or get a DVD.  5 on 10.

  1. Vivek is a good actor, his carrer was almost sabotaged by a ego superstar, but talent cant be destroyed overnight. Waiting to see this movie.

    1. I echo your sentiments. But bad choices have probably got him to where he is. I would be most pleased to see him succeed. Lets look at Zilla Ghaziabad.
