Vishesh Bhatt
has to date restricted himself to producing under his banner of Vishesh
Films. But it was only a matter of time
before he jumped into the directorial band wagon. Well Murder 3 was that opportunity for
Vishesh Bhatt to literally Murder the audience with his brand of direction.
Murder 3 is not
too different from the usual VF banner movies.
A story that has all the potential to be fabulous but the commercial
aspects of making cinema in India always take preference over making something that
can actually rivet you to your seat and waiting with bated breath for the next
scene.
The end result
is the usual masala that you have come to expect from the Mahesh Bhatt genre of
movies (yes there is a genre called Mahesh Bhatt) – especially the Murder
franchise. Below par direction. Lots of
random background music that is supposed to increase the suspense but falls
flat.
The shooting of
course cannot be done in India. There have
to be international locales. This time around, the flavor of the past few years
has been South Africa (or has it always been so?). And yes, one of the heroines has to be either
Pakistani or a porn star or something controversial. In this case it is a Pakistani.
The lead role of
late has been played by one of India’s most talented and ironically / sadly
wasted actors for some inexplicable reason.
Randeep Hooda as Vikram – a struggling photographer – made to look and
emote more like a villain than a hero. His
girl friend Roshni (Aditi Rao Hydari) is a successful executive in South
Africa.
They move to
India because Vikram gets an assignment here that pays well enough for him to
buy out a huge and secluded villa in Mumbai!!! But Roshni starts suspecting
Vikram of having an affair with his work colleague and eventually leaves
him. Distraught, Vikram takes to
drinking and over time builds a relationship with Nisha (Sara Loren aka Mona
Lizza = )) I cannot stop laughing!!!)
Murder 3 is
supposed to be a thriller like the previous 2.
But it does nothing whatsoever other than put some random images that
attempt to generate thrill. There is nothing
that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
You are waiting for the movie to get over at the earliest. The first half is stretched to no end and the
2nd takes its time to build.
Overall, too slow for the franchise and not worth it as expected. 3 on 10.
