So here goes
- Fact No. 1 – All men are bastards. Period.
- Fact No. 2 – Women are better managers than men are. But there is a ryder. Provided they are willing to put in the
same amount of effort that an equally competent man is willing to put in
- Fact No. 3 – Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned
And there are
some myths (again clichés) as well
- Myth No. 1 – Women can never make it big in Senior Management
- Corporates will go to any lengths to keep their reputation
intact – even kill
- In all sexual harassment cases, the woman is a victim
If you are
familiar with all of the above, then you may as well avoid watching Inkaar
because I have more or less summed up the entire movie with these 6 clichés
(sorry that’s the 3rd time I am using the word in a single
page). But then that’s what Sudhir
Mishra’s movie is going to be reduced to.
The age old
fight between man and woman in the corporate world to prove that each one is
right. This time represented through Maya Luthra (Chitrangadha Singh) and Rahul
Verma (Arjun Rampal). The latter is the
CEO of a leading advertising agency. The
former an upcoming copywriter. They meet at an awards function. He teaches her the ropes. She grows really fast. She sleeps with him on
the way. He cannot handle her success eventually. He starts making things difficult for
her. The only difference – she files for
sexual harassment.
Sudhir Mishra in
my books was and is one of India’s most talented directors. But for some
reason, he seems to have forgotten it.
He seems to have forgotten that he gave us a stunner of a movie called
Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. It has been
downhill ever since. And the sad part is
that it is down because of production values.
The sound
editing was horrible to say the least. The dubbing was really bad. The actor says “FUCK” and the dubbing says “hell”???
But why??? It is alright to say “Chutiyapa” but not alright to say the F word?
Awwww? Come on Mr. Mishra!!! You succumbed to that to get a U/A certificate?
Seriously?
Shantanu Moitra’s
music is more or less standard fare associated with Mishra’s movies. And that would more or less sum up what
Inkaar gets reduced to. Standard
Fare. Nothing great. Decent story.
Decent performances. Bad technical
execution. Like most movies which could
have been so much better. 5 on 10. And whats with the lousy campaign!!! Watch on
TV or DVD.
