Krrish 3

Let me be honest at the very outset. I walked into Krish 3 expecting a disaster. In fact I was hoping that it would be a disaster. So much that I am beginning to believe in that dialogue from Om Shanti Om, "agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh poori kayanat usse tumse milani ki koshish mein lag jaati hai" (if u sincerely wish for something then the universe conspires to ensure that you get it).

And so, that's what I eventually got - a disaster at so many levels that I kind of lost count mid way through the movie and just started laughing at almost everything that was happening. Even if it was meant to be less than humourous. Whether I was laughing @ the shallowness of the dialogues or the mockery of a superhero concept or the bad computer graphics or the horrible music or just at my plight of having to sustain an 845 am show despite having slept for only 5 hours - is quite debatable.

Krrish 3 begins with a few of its high points - a flashback to Koi Mil Gaya, Krish and the inimitable voice of the Big B (add one more to the list where he is the sutradhaar). The rest I am afraid is a roller coaster ride that is only going in one direction - downhill. It moves to the current day where Priya (Piggy Chops) and Krishna aka Krrish (8 pack Hritik) are happily married and staying with their father, Rohit (paunchy Hritik). They spend the better part of the day giving sweet one liners to each other as Papa Krrish continues with his eccentricities.

Krishna is also kicked out of jobs quite regularly thanks to his absence from work when something wrong happens like the jewelry store which is on his security detail getting robbed. But all of this will pale in comparison when along comes the paraplegic head of a multinational and eponymous Kaal Pharmaceuticals (Viviek Oberoi). Now Kaal has inadvertently created army of MaanVars (animals crossed with humans) in his incessant attempt to cure himself of his paraplegia.

If all of this hasn't made you fall off your chair in pain (due to laughing), surely the biological weapons that our chief villain (he has several maanvar side kicks – chameleon, ant, rhino, cheetah and frog) unleashes on Namibia will.  In addition, there is the howlarious concept of solar energy requiring an intelligent filter with a brain and who will be that filter? If you have the patience, you may just about find out.

Krrish 3 is a blatant copy of Superman, Ironman, Spiderman, The Dark Knight and of course X Men (the most obvious).  There is nothing original about any aspect of this film.  The script is stale as bread kept for a week out in the open in peak summer.  The performances are weak.  I have a lot of respect for the capabilities of Hritik and Priyanka but they falter like never before.  Priyanka infact seems to have pressed the self-destruct button on her career.  Something needs to be done really soon for redemption.

Overall, Krrish 3 is, as expected a disappointing movie.  Does it fare well on the barometer set by a certain Chennai Express or an even worse Besharam? Yes it does.  But yet again Bollywood has given us a movie that tells the audiences that they have limited intelligence and dares them to catch them red handed.  In this age, that is not too challenging Mr. Roshan (senior and junior). 4 on 10 for some decent work in parts.

    4. I have little or no expectations from RGV or such directors
But Krrish3 was a pretty high budget film
I did like the original Krrish
The things which shock me more are the ratings by guys like Taran Adarsh and the people praising CGI of Krrish3
