Spiando Marina / The Smile of The Fox

If Marina Valdez (Debora Caprioglio) had any idea of the impact she was to make on a bunch of teenagers with raging hormones somewhere in South Maharashtra, she would have put in more heart and soul into the role.  The Smile of the Fox (Spiando Marina) is a B grade movie from over 20 years back that a lot of my batchmates saw with great relish when we were half as old or young as what we are today.

While there has been a lot of pressure from all my batch mates with nasty words from those who were probably well behaved in college, I must state – I have written this under no duress.  I must actually thank my batch mates who went through a lot of pain to send me the link for the movie (at the end of this review).  I finally caught up with a movie that coincidentally, I don’t remember having seen in college.

Mark Derrick (Steve Bond) is a corrupt cop who loses his family thanks to the company he chose to keep.  He also loses his job soon after.  He has now turned into a more lucrative career.  Professional Killing.  Mark is a sharp shooter.  His profession has bought him to Buenos Aires where a local don wants his help with a “job”.  The details of the job will be sent to his residence.

What Mark is unaware of (and neither is his employer) is that he is going to be neighbours with Marina Valdez.  Marina can be best described as a gangster’s moll or maybe a prostitute – the details are unclear.  What is crystal clear is that she has no inhibitions about her sexuality.  She is extremely expressive in bed and also that she keeps her balcony windows open while having sex is a good reason for my statement. Of course, there is also a snake that is put to good use!!!!

The audience of course will not complain because everytime you think you haven’t had a good enough view of Marina’s assets, she obliges with yet another view in a few moments.  In short, after Marina’s entry, the movie shows its true colours – soft pornography.  The supposed thrill of the story i.e. the hit / job goes out of the window.  Of course our hero is quick enough to capitalize on the opening (all pun intended).

So much were some people engrossed with the impact of Carpioglio that they even didn’t watch their way on the way out of the video parlour.  In fact, one of them (no names will be taken here) found his way into a sewer pit.  I have no proof that this incident happened after TSOTF but then facts should never come in the way of a good story right?

The Smile of The Fox is a B Grade sex thriller.  The only reason to watch the movie would be if you are keen to get a good look at Carpioglio.  For all you boys out there – this 90s sex siren is definitely worth a dekko.  Now I don’t mean to isolate the women out there.  But I’m sure you get what I mean.  What I can guarantee though is that this is a better way to spend your afternoon than watching Chennai Express.  4 on 10.
